"Sending and receiving faxes from anywhere you have access to your existing email account or to the web - from your home, office, client's office, hotel or airport, is easy and affordable."
Fax To Email
Faxes sent to your special fax phone number arrive in your email box. You'll need a commercial email fax service to do this. Most email fax services include a free local or toll free fax number. (In some cases you can use your existing fax number.) You probably already have the software you need to view the fax since most arrive as .pdf files. If not, you can get it for free.
Email To Fax
Send a fax right from your email box to any fax number. Email and attachments are converted to a fax and instantly delivered to the recipient's regular fax number. The fax will look just like most ordinary faxes. Again, you'll need an email fax service to do this since the conversion is done by the service.
Fax From The Web
Some email or internet fax services allow you to go directly to your account on their web site where you can manage faxes. Typically, you can print, store, sort, send and broadcast faxes directly from your account web page. This is a nice feature if you are away from your desk and want access to stored faxes or you need to send a fax from someone else's computer.
Fax From Your Computer
The software provided by some fax services allows you to fax documents from within Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, and other programs with just a single click!
It is, of course, possible to simply hook your computer to a phone line
and send a fax using the software included with Windows XP or Mac Tiger OS.
The only cost is the cost of the phone call. This may be a great choice for
sending faxes but to receive faxes in the same way is a little tougher. You'll
need to have your computer standing by and set to answer the phone - and of
course the phone line cannot be busy.

Free Trials
Most Fax Services offer a free trial. Normally, you will need to give credit card information for signup. The services need this information to verify the signup is by a real person and not a web robot seeking to send spam. Remember, if you forget to cancel the trial before the trial period ends your credit card will usually be charged for the service.
Free Internet Faxes
There are some free fax services available on the web. A very few of these are provided by community service oriented organizations which depend upon the use of fax servers allowed by universities, governments, and non-profit entities.
Other free services depend on advertising to support costs and usually place ads on the cover sheet of any fax you send or receive.
The user will need to evaluate the suitability of these free fax services and realize that no guarantees should be expected. We don't deem these services useful enough to include in our reviews but they may be useful for one time or limited use.
